Tourism figures for 2005!

Official numbers in September 2006!

September 09, finally the numbers of 'tourists' for 2005 were printed in the Amigoe! What can we do? How do we need to react with a marketing strategy 9 months later?

When do we get the real numbers on time, I mean, 1 month after arrival/departure date. Second, when do we start counting ALL the people at the airport. How many 'locals' (residents) arriving without counting? How many of them are here for vacation reasons? How many 'non locals' coming in for non vacation reasons? Family, business, travelagents, etc.? Aruba knows exactly where the people come from, where they stay and for what reason. This is the most accurate counting! I know, some will not tell the 100% truth about age or income. I do know, the numbers are very close. Stop the guess for reasons like, airlines, seats, price, etc. There are many, many other resons for visiting or, not visiting Bonaire! At least, the people need to know what, who and where is Bonaire!

Economically, everybody is most welcome. With Hotel Rochaline, I know how many local visitors are renting a room. Even is they are here for business reasons!

Don't use the word 'Tourist' anymore. Let's call our guests: 'Visitors', valued visitors!

New website Dutch Caribbean

Dutch author launched his own website.

Gaat DAE St. Maarten verliezen?

Dutch Antilles Express stopt met de vluchten naar St. Maarten!!

Zoals uit de media is gebleken zal DAE met ingang van 9 September stoppen met vluchten naar en van St. Maarten. Zestien maanden lang heeft DAE bewezen volgens schema en op eigen kosten een verbinding te onderhouden met St. Maarten. Jammer, en weer een bewijs dat met weinig respect wordt omgegaan met de zo belangrijke inzet van ons allen, in dit geval DAE. Bonaire heeft met DAE bewezen als klein eiland een zeer belangrijke verbinding voor lokale als wel voor toeristen reizigers te kunnen 'runnen'. Het zal toch niet gebeuren dat we weer terug in de tijd gaan en taferelen beleven als met de ALM?

Verbinding met Venezuela.

De Venezuelaanse maatschappij Transaven, heeft een nieuw kantoor op Bonaire. Kontakt persoon is Melushkalin Thomas en is te bereiken op; bonaire@transaven.com  Transaven vliegt drie maal per week vanuit Caracas naar Bonaire v.v. Bonaire-Caracas: Maandag en Woensdag om 18.30 via Valencia en Vrijdag direct naar Caracas om 14.30.

Nieuw KLM schema voor Peru.

Zoals het er nu naar uitziet, zal de vlucht naar Lima, Peru met ingang van het nieuwe seizoen worden uitgevoerd door een Boeing 777. Bonaire zal hierdoor de dagelijkse rechtstreekse vlucht met Amsterdam gaan missen. De vluchten naar Equador zullen wellicht worden opgevoerd naar 6 of 7 per week. De vluchten naar Equador zullen voorlopig Bonaire wel als tussenstop houden met de MD 11 omdat de start/landings baan in Quito te kort is voor de Boeing 777. Het goede nieuws is, dat er een nieuwe, twee wekelijkse, vlucht naar Bonaire komt die in combinatie met Aruba zal worden uitgevoerd.  Er is ook sprake van een vlucht naar Panama, via Bonaire! Wij houden u op de hoogte!
